In my daydreams I'm a writer. In my daydreams I can write characters who are flawed enough to make them both believable and lovable, I can write beautiful songs and epic poems. I can even effortlessly write a blog... in my daydreams. I'm about to find out if writing a blog is one of those things that's much harder than it looks. I suspect it will be.
I'm writing a blog NOT because Google told me that it would make me seem more professional, showcase my skill-set to my potential clients and give me more credibility in the field, but because I hope it gives me a new way to explore some of the topics I find most fascinating in the field of counselling and psychotherapy. I hope it can connect me with people who I can learn from (that's everyone by the way) and express myself in a way that is going to challenge that part of me that is quite reserved. My goal is to be authentic and to offer you information that you can find value in whether you're thinking about using my services, you're a colleague in mental health work or you're just interested in the topic.
The topics of my blog posts are going to be based around what I'm learning, I'm a lover of learning. At any given time I'm in the process of learning several new skills, at the moment it's skateboarding, lino printing and, well, how to write a blog. I also love books. Just to be clear, I love holding books, skimming through books, borrowing 20 books from the library at once, picking out particular parts of books and intensely reading a few pages, but reading a book in a linear, cover-to-cover way is not really my style. I bet you're looking forward to my book review posts now, aren't you!?
In all seriousness, I will be writing posts about books that I've read and I promise that I'll read them very thoroughly for you. I'll also be writing about any training that I'm doing and occasionally I might just get a bit more personal and write about insights that have come to me through my own experiences.
To wrap up my First. Blog. Ever. I'll tell you that I'm feeling a little bit apprehensive about this thing but also ready for a new challenge. I hope you'll enjoy what you find here and get in touch if it connects with you. My very warmest wishes to you, reader.
